Bat MitzvahBecoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah

The B'nai Mitzvah program comprises a significant chapter in each student's life. All B'nai Mitzvah candidates must attend Hebrew classes, mid-week Hebrew, and will be privately tutored by the Rabbi.  Private instruction with each student begins about ten months prior to the Bar/Bat Mitzvah date. Successful completion of a Bar/Bat Mitzvah includes conducting a Shabbat prayer service, reading from the Torah and Haftroah passages and completing a mitzah project.  The Rabbi will work with each student and his/her family to make this a very special ceremony in the life of each student.  At the Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony, members of the family are encouraged to participate in this wonderful simcha.

Although the traditional age for B'nai Mitzvah is thirteen we also encourage older students and adults, who may have missed the opportunity to study at an earlier age, to prepare for a Bar/Bat Mitzah.
